Finally, our last preseason post of 2018-thank you to everyone who has been following along with the team!
Before starting with business subteams, here’s a glimpse at a communication scenario that may help during tense times in build season.
Here’s the latest from Awards: they have continued working on revisions for Chairman’s essays and finished the Woodie Flowers essay, as well as discussing the Chairman’s presentation outline and organization.
The Finance team has updated their Fundraising 101 presentation, edited the business plan, updated an elevator pitch for the Entrepreneurship award, listed current sponsors and contacts for them in a spreadsheet, and organized fundraising for the Chipotle, Pittsburgh Popcorn and CMU bake sale.
The Media team has been hard at work on the team’s merchandise for this season. The girls want to start with popsockets, and have sent a proposal to a company and are waiting for other designs to be selected.
Again, these are updates from the end of preseason, and the business subteams will continue their projects after kickoff. Technical meetings continued through December 13th so we could be ready for the End of Preseason Project demo at the holiday party.
With the end of preseason comes our annual holiday party to showcase our End of Preseason Project. We enjoyed great food and fun, which included gift-wrapping dozens of donations from our FLL, FTC, and FRC teams for Bethlehem Haven, a women’s shelter in Pittsburgh.
The party was amazing, filled with family and friends who have continued to support the Girls of Steel- thank you to everyone who celebrated with us!
During the party, the final Chairman’s video was revealed to everyone and it was incredible, thank you to the Video team for all their hard work to make this video perfect!
Reflecting on the End-of-Preseason Project, our mentor George Kantor said, “It’s really exciting to see the shooter completed and in operation, and it is cool that we built two chassis.”
He also said on the upcoming build season for Destination: Deep Space, “We have a really strong group of students and I can’t wait to see how it goes!”
This preseason has been very rewarding, and the girls look forward to a productive, successful, and fun build season!
