Week 6 ended with Bag & Tag at NREC on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 and the Girls of Steel team has been more productive than ever. The strategy and analysis teams worked on creating a spreadsheet on scouting strategy. The programming team finished the baby drive for Lidar code as well as tested the pivot and the climber on Laika. Baby drive was essentially a program developed to assist the robot in climbing.
The electronics team helped mount and set up the electronics board on Laika. They mounted the encoder and configured the motors. The mechanical team spent the majority of time tweaking the climber and wrapping things up with the Laika’s mechanical parts. Design team collaborated with other subteams to help them with cutting and setting up Laika.
The entire team decided which competition subteam they would like to be a part of; they were given the choice of “pit crew”, “drive team” (which was already chosen beforehand), or “strategy team”. Drive team lead is Tina, strategy and analysis leads are Anna N. and Swathi, and pit lead is Claire C. In addition Teadora is spirit lead, Anna S. is our Safety Captain, and Norah and Rachel are team co-captains.
We celebrated the end of the build season at Bag & Tag with dinner from Choolaah, a team favorite. Girls continued working on and testing the robot throughout the night until finally Laika was bagged and tagged.
Our first competition is the Miami Valley Regional, March 6 to 9 at Wright State University in Ohio. Good luck to everyone during the competition season!
