Today’s meeting was very productive!
Thursdays are when the girls on the drive team work on their drive team stuff while the normal meeting is going on. The girls on the drive team are working on a practice six wheel chassis so they can be well rounded in each part of the team: electronics, mechanical, and even some programming. They pretty much built the whole robot themselves, which includes the chassis, an electronics board, and even the prototype shooter that was already built. They’re hoping to get it running soon so they can drive it around!
While the drive team did their thing, all the other girls continued what they were doing at the last meeting. Some were working on CAD, and it is almost done! Programmers coded basic things and whatever else they could, since they don’t have the robot yet, the climber team fixed some of the flaws with their design, there were some girls in the shop, and a lot of work was getting done!
During dinner, we had an important discussion about the climber. The two climber team leads, Tammy and Laurel, talked about how the climber would work and showed detailed sketches they made, which included the dimensions of it. They told us about changes they had made in order to make everything work out, and also an idea they had to help keep the robot more stable when climbing. Many people had questions and there was even some debate over the whole idea really working, but in the end the decision to keep the robot design and climber was finalized!
