The 2016 FRC game is “Stronghold”. The alliances compete to defeat their opponents “defenses”, which sit in the outer works, and change match to match. Robots also throw boulders from their opposing alliance’s courtyard. The match begins with a 15 second autonomous period, in which the robots are controlled by pre-programmed instructions, and not the drivers. after the autonomous period comes a 2 minute and 15 second tele-operated period.

When an robot completes a challenge of one of the “defenses” it is considered damaged. when an alliance can “damage” 4 out of 5 of the defenses, the outer works are considered breached, which gives the alliance a ranking point.

The Field

In the last 20 seconds, robots that can lift themselves by the rungs of the tower wall can earn their alliance extra points, and even get a ranking point!
