Season 2 of Rosie Talks!

After seeing such success with our Rosie Talks webinar series last year, we decided to bring it back for round 2 or season 2. If you aren’t familiar, Rosie Talks is a webinar series that aims to introduce and celebrate the experiences and accomplishments of girls and women involved in STEM from across the Pittsburgh area.  Each talk highlights a high school girl in STEM and a professional or higher education female in STEM.

We kicked off “Rosie Talks Season 2” on December 19. Session 1 featured Amanda Hulver, an 11th grader from the North Allegheny School District. Amanda has been involved with Girls of Steel for four years. She is currently a co-director of FIRST Ladies (an international organization for women involved in FIRST), and a member of the programming subteam. During her time with GoS, she has mentored our FIRST LEGO League Challenge teams and even mentored a FIRST LEGO League Explore Team at her old elementary school.

Our second presenter was Sarah Withee, the current lead FIRST Tech Challenge mentor at Girls of Steel. Sarah has been involved with FIRST for over 10 years. Sarah is a web developer, conference organizer, and featured guest speaker at countless conferences and has been featured on multiple podcasts.

This webinar was held on Zoom. Each presenter made a formal presentation and then had the opportunity to answer any questions from the audience. Stay tuned for information regarding future sessions coming up in January, February, March, and April!
