Girls of Steel 2022 InvenTeam: Update #5

Happy Spring!

The BuzzBand team had an exciting month. We kicked off March with a presentation for Pennsylvania U.S. Congressman Mike Doyle. He left many insightful comments about our project and even participated in our media board activity!

In addition, as members of the Girls of Steel FIRST Robotics Competition team, the BuzzBand team members competed at two regional competitions – the Greater Pittsburgh Regional and the Buckeye Regional. At both competitions we discussed the BuzzBand project with multiple judges. The judges were impressed with our progress and some even offered us advice and their contact information. We look forward to reaching out to them in the future!

Behind the scenes our team is working with patent attorneys and just finished getting the BuzzBand to the patent-pending stage by filing our utility patent on March 15, 2022. We are so appreciative of our patent attorneys for believing in our idea and we are learning more about the legal progress for patenting the BuzzBand.

Finally, after speaking with the Carnegie Science Center, we have two potential “sensory sensitivity” day events coming up where we can learn and volunteer. We may be able to share information about the BuzzBand with adults on the autism spectrum during one of the sensory days, but we will not be doing a demo!

We can’t wait to see what April will hold for the BuzzBand team.

Get Busy Buzzing!!
